Now that Apex Legends has a twelfth season on the way, there has been a fair amount of promotion for it. There was already a launch trailer released for season 12 that revealed the new Legend being added to the game is Mad Maggie. While the launch trailer ended up showing off the new Legend, promotion for season 12 hasn’t stopped there.

A new gameplay trailer for Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance was released earlier today. The new gameplay trailer shows off more of season 12’s new content, including the new Legend Mad Maggie, a new game mode being added for the season, and more. Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance is scheduled to start on February 8.
The trailer reveals the new game mode for Apex Legends is called Control, a limited-time mode that’s “the brainchild of beloved philanthropist and interstellar genius, Duardo Silva.” In Control, two teams of nine players compete against each other to control various locations and gain points for their team. The trailer emphasizes teamwork as important to players’ success in Control.
The trailer proceeds to introduce players to Mad Maggie, a warlord who was tried and sentenced to die in the Apex Games. The trailer doesn’t provide specific details about Mad Maggie’s abilities or weapons, but it does show her in action while describing some of her backstory before the new season. Her recent in-universe actions are relevant to the new game map called Sabotaged Olympus, the result of a recent sneak attack by Mad Maggie that’s causing objects and buildings to teleport across the city.
The trailer also promotes the new Battle Pass for season 12 and Apex Legends’ “Three-year Anniversary,” which will come with three weeks of rewards. From February 8 - February 15, there’s “Get Octane” with 3 Thematic Packs. February 15 - February 22 has “Get Wattson” with 3 Thematic Packs, while February 22 - March 1 has “Get Valkyrie” with 3 Thematic Packs and 1 Legendary Pack for rewards. The trailer concludes by highlighting the Apex Legends 3rd Anniversary Collection Event.
Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
