Rather than the leak stemming from an inside source or datamined information, the new Apex Legends character named Vantage was revealed by Respawn Entertainment accidentally. Respawn appears to have pushed a “Survive” video from the Stories from the Outlands series before the planned announcement for Vantage. Additionally, a promotional image for the video was pushed live in the Apex Legends client that features Vantage’s face.

The full text of the teaser image found in Apex Legends reads, “There’s a new installment of the Stories from the Outlands! Watch Survive and meet the new Legend joining the Games in Apex Legends: Hunted coming August 9!” In other words, Respawn plans to release Vantage as a playable Legend in the battle royale with the start of the next season. More specifically, Vantage will be released when Season 14 arrives on August 9.

Leaks have revealed several details about the upcoming Legend Vantage. The two most prominent gameplay elements associated with Vantage are her rifle, always included in her kit, and her winged companion (likely a bat). The rifle includes a long-ranged scope for sniping and targeting, and can be used to reveal specific details regarding the focused target’s character and gear. Vantage can use Echo to launch into the air, as well as for scouting.

What the leaks don’t make clear is when Respawn plans to make an official announcement regarding Vantage and Season 14. With that said, it’s safe to assume that the announcement is going to come very soon. Respawn even released a teaser for the Stories from the Outlands video’s Monday release. Season 14 will be launching in just over two weeks, and more information about what Apex Legends players can expect alongside the release of Vantage is expected to be revealed soon, too.

Apex Legends isn’t the most secure game with regard to upcoming information. Leaks are common, particularly regarding upcoming seasonal content and new Legends. As such, Vantage may not be too much of a surprise to dedicated Apex Legends players. There’s a lot of specific information yet to be confirmed, though, so fans should look forward to this upcoming week for some big Apex Legends announcements and Season 14 starting on August 9.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
