Today sees the release of Rampart’s biggest info dump so far, though. Ahead of her in-game debut, Apex Legends has premiered Rampart’s “Story from the Outlands” trailer, revealing the character’s backstory. The trailer, titled “The Endorsement,” provides context to a lot of the details Respawn Entertainment has dropped on Rampart up until this point.

The first detail comes at the start. The Endorsement shows Rampart hanging out with Bangalore and Gibraltar, which is a follow-up to the Bangalore voicemail that Respawn released a few days ago, where Bangalore offered to buy Rampart drinks. The next fleshed out detail comes when the group of thugs confronts Rampart.

The girl with blue hair — the leader of the thugs — sounds an awful lot like the individual that threatened Rampart via voicemail, implying that she should throw her match because people have placed money on her losing. Rampart also hints at this voicemail when she taunts, “she doesn’t usually do a gauntlet round twice in one day,” which implies she won the match she was told to throw.

After Rampart loses to the blue-haired girl, the person who greets her is Kuben Blisk, a Titanfall character and the creator of the Apex Games. Respawn hinted in-game that Rampart had a personal connection to Kuben by displaying complimentary graffiti art of Kuben done by Rampart across Apex’s map. Kuben personally inviting Rampart to the games confirms this connection, hence the name “The Endorsement.”

It’s still unclear who the blue-haired girl is. She’s not a selectable Apex Legend, but Apex Legends Season 6 trailer revealed many new faces, so she may become a playable character later on down the line. Some people believe she’s working directly under the Syndicate, as that would explain how Kuben reached Rampart before the fire completely consumed her shop.

Finally, The Endorsement provides another look at Rampart using Shelia — the heavy turret she named in the Season 6 trailer. It’s not confirmed, but it certainly looks like Sheila will be Rampart’s Ultimate. Her ability to use it in tandem with a shield makes it a pretty good candidate for that.

Apex Legends is on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Steam and Switch versions arrive later this year.
