A mobile version of Apex Legends has been in the works since early last year with Respawn officially confirming a version of the game would be coming to Android and iOS devices through regional beta tests. While many fans expected a mobile version in line with its contemporaries like Fortnite and PUBG: Battlegrounds, game director Chad Grenier previously confirmed that the battle royale’s arrival to mobile devices would be a “new version” designed and optimized for touchscreen controls. Now, following several beta testing periods, EA announced a limited regional launch to come next week for the highly-anticipated Apex Legends Mobile.

A news release from Apex Legends on Wednesday officially confirms that Apex Legends Mobile will launch in 10 select regions next week with more to be added following the regional launch. The initial launch will be limited to players in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia and is expected to remain limited through Spring. During the limited regional launch, players will be able to choose from a curated selection of Apex’s roster with fan-favorites like Wraith, Caustic, and Bloodhound included.
In the announcement post, Respawn also revealed some other limitations for players in those regions looking to drop into the action before the mobile version’s global launch. Because of the game’s positioning as a mobile-only optimized version, Apex Legends Mobile will not feature cross-play with the PC or console versions. Due to the technical constraints of the game, Apex Legends Mobile will also not be supported on Android devices with less than 3GB of RAM and on iOS devices with less than 2 GB RAM.
As Apex Legends moves into 2022, Respawn and EA have given long-time fans of the game plenty to look forward to throughout the year. Not only is the mobile version nearing its launch, the developers have also been working on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions of Apex Legends with recent leaks suggesting the PS5 version has already been added to the PlayStation Network’s database. Between new content and new ways to experience the chaotic mayhem of Apex Legends, the popular shooter will look to continue its dominance throughout 2022.
Apex Legends Mobile will release next week for Android and iOS in select regions with a global launch to come later.
