Like every other online game that is an ongoing series of updates and new content, Apex Legends is subject to bugs. They come and go with the patches, along with broken powers and underpowered characters, sometimes humorous, oftentimes not. And sometimes, they force the player experiencing them to deal with a handicap they never agreed to for a whole match.

To be fair, the devs do keep on top of the most prominent bugs and do their best to eliminate them completely. Last month a list of bug fixes coming to Apex Legends was released, and players were hopeful. New bugs have sprung up however, including a recent head turner. Player Komil85 seems to have been the first to document this bug, which relates to Apex’s loot system. Simply put, the bug prevents players from looting from containers. This seems to apply both to dropped loot crates and Loba’s Black Market. When attempting to draw loot from these, the selection appears to be completely empty, even when there’s no way that’s true.
At the moment, it is not known how widespread the bug is or what triggers it specifically. In a video, Komil (using Gibralter), approached Loba’s Black Market and discovered it empty. Komil then went on to find several dropped loot boxes similarly empty, even as one was being looted by another player. This could have something to do with Loba’s Black Market, perhaps tied into the Vaults, but it seems unlikely.
There is a possibility that the bug is character localized, though again, this seems unlikely. This is not a matter of a character or skin being glitched, like Wraith’s goddess skin bug. The problem seems to arise from the loot containers themselves, not the characters or loot. In fact, any loot that is out of a container can still be picked up no problem.
Hopefully this was either a one time thing (it seems no one else has experienced it yet), or the crates in question really were empty. It seems unlikely (like a lot about this glitch), but it’s possible it may have been a singular fluke. Let’s hope that’s the case, because few things are worse than seeing the best guns in Apex Legends sealed off behind a blank container screen.
Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s coming to Nintendo Switch and Steam this fall.
