It is worth noting how Vantage’s ultimate differs from other sniper rifles and, indeed, from other Apex Legends Ultimates. For example, Vantage’s Sniper’s Mark Ultimate is the only one in-game that does not have to be fully charged to use. At full charge, Vantage’s personal sniper rifle has five shots, but if she pulls it out at, say, 40%, then she’ll have two shots for it. This is unique, but so is its role among other sniper rifles.

Apex Legends: Vantage’s Sniper Rifle vs. Kraber, Sentinel

It should be noted that Respawn did, at one point, test Vantage’s sniper rifle as an amped-up version of the Kraber, the company revealed during a recent press event, but decided against it and reasonably so. The sheer idea sounds terrifying enough. The Kraber will always be the high-skill, high-reward scenario weapon, but Vantage’s sniper is not that. It’s more or less a support weapon.

By not needing a full charge, players can pull it out and hit once. This still changes the flow of the battle. Vantage’s ultimate will hit for 50 damage the first time it hits a foe, and subsequent damage from it will be 100 to the same target. What’s more important, though, is that this will mark targets for 10 seconds. Players can’t see them through walls or anything like that, it is not a recon scan in Apex Legends, but those targets will take more damage from Vantage’s allies. With a little coordination and the right strike, a whole team can kill a player quickly and move on to other members of the team.

This requires a little cooperation and teamwork, unlike other snipers where players just hang back and poke enemies as they can. This definitely sets it apart from the Kraber, as the one holding it gains all the glory, but Vantage is playing to win in the Apex Games. Her survivalist instinct knows she needs allies to do it with, and this works out well for everyone.

Apex Legends is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
