Thankfully, though, there is a way to neutralize Caustic’s Nox Gas Traps, and it doesn’t appear that many players know about this trick. While many players probably know that either Caustic or another player can shoot the traps from a distance to set them off, there is actually a red-colored area at the bottom of the trap.
If players shoot that red section, it will destroy the trap without setting it off. Obviously, players going up against the traps will need to have a good shot, as a missed round too high can result in the opposite desired effect. The image further below user xXROSHIXx on the Apex Legends subreddit shows where players need to target.
This trick does not apply to Caustic’s Nox Gas Grenade Ultimate Ability, so players should be mindful as to where a cloud of Caustic’s gas is coming from when seeing it. As a side note, this knowledge surely would have been helpful to the team that was trapped in a room by a player using Caustic’s gas traps to keep the doors of the room shut.
As players continue to peel back the layers of Apex Legends, there will no doubt be more discoveries about the legends and the intricacies of their abilities that come to light as time goes on. It is often the discovery of counters like these that can completely shift a meta of a game back and forth, which will hopefully continue to happen over Apex Legends’ lifetime.
