Mad Maggie joins the growing list of assault characters in Apex Legends, and it seems she can do a little bit of everything. Abilities have only grown more complex in recent seasons, and the same can be said of Mad Maggie—however, it’s not clear if her “little bit of everything” approach will make her weak, viable, or OP in the meta.

Mad Maggie’s passive ability is called Warlord’s Ire, and it gives her the ability to scan enemies she’s dealt damage to and move faster with a shotgun. It’s not certain yet how long the scan lasts in an Apex Legends match, but it’ll likely be handy in close-quarters combat when an enemy is dipping in and out of a building. Her tactical takes her passive to the next level though.
Mad Maggie’s tactical is called the Riot Drill, in which she fires a drill that burns enemies through obstacles (such as Rampart’s shields). The big passive-tactical one-two here is that her drill damages enemies and thus, because of her passive, can scan them as well. So, not only does Mad Maggie have a damage-dealing ability, but she can also scan as well—likely in a manner similar to Apex Legends character Fuse.
Finally, her ultimate ability has a couple of layers to it as well. It’s called Wrecking Ball and sees Maggie throw this giant ball that leaves speed-boosting pads in its wake (allowing her to close distances and get a speed boost, similar to Octane, although anyone such as the squad or enemies can also use these pads), and it’ll detonate near enemies. Overall, it’s a speed-boosting positioning-related ability, and it ties in with Maggie’s aggressive attitude.
A lot of season 12 seems to incorporate Maggie’s personality at that, too. Fans know that the Olympus map in Apex Legends is getting updated, and that’s because of some foul-play on Maggie’s behalf. How far her story in relation to the Apex Games goes remains to be seen, but it’ll be interesting to see how she changes up the game in the first few weeks and further.
Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
