In Apex Legends, players can observe the squad that killed them if they are suspicious of their death. It isn’t perfect, but it’s something to confirm what they may suspect. However, one recent observer got to see a hilarious encounter between a hacker and a prowler.

The thing about auto-aim cheats is that they lock on to an enemy target and nothing but, allowing players to shoot at them in insane ways and taking all the skill or luck out of a good Apex Legends gun. One hacker utilizing this cheat discovered the downside of this when, between them and their target, was a Prowler on Storm Point. Prowlers are universally considered annoying on the map, especially when in a firefight, but it adds another layer to combat and thought process when rotating. For the hacker, though, they couldn’t shoot the Prowler.
Despite shooting straight out the prowler, every bullet went toward the hacker’s enemy across the map. This resulted in the Hacker needing to punch the prowler to death, which they are able to do, but it’s a hilarious interaction nonetheless. It doesn’t really help his enemy, as the Gibraltar with Red Shields takes minor damage from the Prowler and manages to kill it with a few melee attacks, yet it does show off at least one benefit of the Prowlers.
Some, in the comments, even called these Prowlers the real anti-cheat system of Apex Legends. That’s obviously a joke, but there might be some wisdom in it. While some players with the right skill sets can still manage to beat hackers, someone who is concerned might just consider leading them to a prowler den. It’s a risky gambit, but at the very least, it’s going to give the hacker a harder time.
Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
