As part of the new Prestige cosmetic system, this Prestige Bloodhound skin is an upgradable cosmetic. After obtaining the skin, players can complete challenges related to getting damage to unlock several color varieties. While some like the design, numerous gamers believe that the potentially $164 cost is too much. While this is around the same amount of money needed to unlock an heirloom during previous events, many players believe it is less valuable than those melee weapons. And to make matters worse, there appears to be a problem with the skin following its release.

Since the Prestige Bloodhound skin became available to unlock in Apex Legends, those fortunate enough to get it have started discovering a bug that made leveling up the cosmetic difficult. According to some players, the damage needed to unlock the different color versions of the skin would not count, or even worse, the game would delete the previous progression. While some noted that restarting the game seemed to fix the issue, others commented that damage would randomly not count regardless of a restart.

This bug is significant as the inability to progress through these damage challenges prevents players from leveling up the Prestige Bloodhound to tiers 2 and 3. One content creator, known as KralRindo on Twitter, noted they had experienced the glitch as well. “I had 18k damage and it’s just… gone,” they said.

While this glitch is doubtlessly frustrating for fans and adds fuel to the contention surrounding the value of Prestige skins, there does appear to be a fix on the way soon. Following complaints from gamers, a developer at Respawn Entertainment addressed the issue. In a post on Reddit, they noted that the problem was being examined, and a fix could be coming in short order. However, they did admit that it might be impossible for the previous progression for leveling up the skin to be recovered.

It will be interesting to see how this bug is addressed by Respawn Entertainment and whether this will cause other players to think twice before purchasing the Prestige Bloodhound skin. Hopefully, a satisfactory solution to the problem can be found soon so that those that purchased the pricey cosmetic can get back to leveling it up in Apex Legends.
